I've been dialing up my new boat to accommodate my extreme legs and part of that process has been adjusting the bulkhead/footplate. i.imgur.com/6R0bpfb.jpgThe bulkhead that I have has got these extra plates on the face that you unscrew and move around for some reason that I can't quite fathom. Anywho, this isn't strictly a boating question but maybe someone has encountered something similar before - the heads on the screws are completely kaputt and I'm not sure how to remove them. I've tried a bit of the old WD-40 to loosen the works but as you can see the previous owner has tried and failed to use a screwdriver properly. i.imgur.com/yOHzAlT.jpgi.imgur.com/xctlB6J.jpgI'm concerned that I'll have to drill them out.

There are 2 things you can do.....make that 3 1) Try a bigger head screwdriver than the screw as this will give you more leverage 2) If that fucks them even more you can cut another flat head into the screw and try that 3) If all else fails, remove the bulkhead, take the foot plates out and then cut the screws out.

Found some Torx in my dad's workshop. Just had to drill them a little bit, get the right size of Torx, hammer it into place and then screw it out. Easy. Cheers for the input.
