31st August 2013
Attending: Will, Sizer, Tom, Fergus, Hannah, Craig, Lesley, Charlotte
Apologies: Jordan
Constitution:
Change Captain - no one is responsible for arranging trips. Other people can still do it, but it would make a specific person more responsible. Need approved at general meeting. Everyone here is happy with it.
“Captain will actively encourage and promote kayaking and organise trips”
Flat Water Trips:
Top of Dundee. Blue and green algae to be cleared. Hopefully by late september good to go, otherwise Monike park could still go. Is someone responsible for testing the water.
Lending St Andrews:
6 sets of kit and boats. Can run afternoon trips if necessary. Probably charge a fiver - easy money. Have changing facilities, would need to let them know we are coming.
Training times the same as last year. Extra session on the Wednesday (11th) for Give It A Go. Group slitting worked well. Wednesday 25th first outside flat water session. Craig, Pete and Chris have racks in case we can’t get racks. Charlotte has a polo. *Correction Pete doesn't actually*
Polo boats are still on their way. We have money from awards for all. We have a small bit of other monies. Plan was to get su veto to collect them but they won’t fit now. Will probably need to hire bus. We will need to pay petrol too, probably £100ish.
Robbie is paying in installments. Dunny still owes money too. Anything more expensive will get 50% up front in pub. Pub sign up is better than forum. Gets people down to Social and freshers tend not to use forum. Get badgering post loans for RAD weekend. Lady is very nice so far.
RAD Weekend:
Fergus, Tom and Will can decide rivers.
Probably cheaper than weekend away approx. £50 in ideal world.
Weekend Away:
Roy Bridge
Approximately £60
Probably work out food costs a bit better - Tom is doing this.
Get Roddy’s special card.
Nice to know how many veggies. Tom would like an excuse letter please.
T-shirts - Lesley and Fergus will work out.
Theme: Cowboys and Indians (as in Native Americans, not Bollywood)
Sizer will be coming as the Milky bar kid again. He was born for it.
SSS Slalom:
16th Nov. Pool booked 1pm-9pm
Need to go for a chat about stringing up and things.
Moon knew someone/thing about suction.
Bandstand chat.
Sponsorship - got from Go Kayaking Scotland and Lomo.
Sizer has emailed others that weren’t interested.
Suggestions: Durex, Ann Summers, talk to Mark Mulrain, Unsponsored, Mackies, Mars.
Any other suggestions text Sizer.
Get Facebook page fired up.
MERCHANDISE:
Bit of change with new logo.
Same design on back of su hoodies.
Committee polos just embroidered.
Charlotte to give polo to Fergus.
Wait till matriculation to order rash vests (post 23rd sep)
Canoe Club jackets - Kukri super warm but bulky and Keela do really warm ones. Would be good to have nice good warm ones.
Should tell people not to wear rash vest on rivers.
Sizers friend from Lancaster has a very good one, he will chat to him.
Potentially get something printed on sleeve - depending on cost, which will depend on numbers wanting.
Mono night:
Hannah and Jordan meeting swim social secs on Wednesday. Also meeting mono man on Thursday.
Circus suggestion.
Were kinda going with Baywatch but not sure that that is confirmed.
21st November
Gaudi night:
1st of October
Face paints colour teams.
Potentially start in flats.
Ask to start in Number 25 - 7pmish.
Hannah and Jordan to try sort Queue jump.
Others:
Burger night
Pub quiz
Potentially Number 25/Underground/Braes
Bingo night - Tom loves Mecca Bingo and is a member already.
Cocktail night/lads night and then meeting up
Christmas dinner - social potential, or Union. Hannah and Jordan to get dates.
SU dinner - encourage people to come.
Sports Fayre:
6th Sports’ Fayre
Flyers, but not necessary to halls.
Various pictures.
Training times.
Get sweets. Pound shop
Couple boats, paddles etc.
Set up 11am - 12 start
Not too many people round the table.
Coaches:
Pair up people, less experienced with more experienced. Will get a schedule - two skills per session - game at end will be related to the skills. Don’t say if you think someone is teaching something wrong. Extra coach for catch up and extra for keen people, who advance or can already paddle.
Tom will ask Paul McPate to split the third membership for just two Aqua ones.
Ask Paul McPate if we can get a board of skills up in the pool.
Tom is putting in a grant funding to cover part of the cost of Whitewater and Safety rescue.
Buses:
Mesh for the roof bars?
Craig to see Grant in su.
Bye Bye xxx
